White Mage
From BGWiki
|
Experts in curing and healing magic, White Mages provide the perfect support for a party. They also excel in close combat, but are forbidden to wield any bladed weapons.
By using recovery spells, white mages can ensure a party's survival.
White Mage's primary role is battle support, especially as a healer. Through job-specific equipment and access to Cure V, White Mage is unequivocally the most MP efficient healer in the game.

White Mage Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
- The meritable regen line of spells provides the most MP efficient way to recover HP over time.
- Able to cast most all White Magic in the game, including unique spells such as Cure V and Curaga IV, coupled with area effect enhancing magic such as Protectra V, Shellra V, Status protection spells and elemental resistance spells.
- Access to Teleport spells to get around quickly and possibly be used to escape a sticky situation.
- Devotion is the only way to recover MP instantly for another player.
- Second highest Club skill in the game, when combined with unique hammer-style clubs and Hexa Strike can be used to produce interesting damage results properly equipped.
- Fairly inexpensive to level, combined with becoming a "taxi" with teleport spells, a white mage can make a decent living without farming or tradeskills.
Weaknesses
- Second weakest set of inherent Clear Mind traits and no way to recover own MP without resting can lead to some downtime without support. This can lead to slow invites to EXP parties due to the endurance of Red Mage.
- Enmity generation is touchy and tough at early levels but becomes much easier as levels increase.
Acquisition
White Mage is one of the six jobs already available to players when starting the game.
