Ninja
From BGWiki
|
Strict training in the forbidden arts of the Far East have transformed these fighters into cold, hard killing machines.
Often used as a "blink tank", Ninja is also a versatile DD specializing in Ninjutsu. High throwing skill and shurikens shows their ability to cause pain from afar as well as up close. Highly desired for all events.

Acquisition
Ninja is acquired by completing the quest Ayame and Kaede.
This job requires the Rise of the Zilart expansion.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
- Ninjas have the second highest evasion skill in the game, they are second only to Thief.
- Katanas, which are only accessible to ninjas, are very good damage over time weapons. They have low damage, but also have a correspondingly low delay. Combine this delay with the Dual Wield trait, and Haste% equipment and the numbers can really begin to add up.
- Access to enfeebling and elemental Ninjutsu allows a ninja a wide range of solo possibilities.
- Utsusemi: Ichi and Utsusemi: Ni are unarguably the best damage mitigation spells in the game. They guarantee that three or four (single target) attacks will miss the ninja. With enough Haste% equipment and the proper support, a ninja can keep these shadows up the majority of the time. This style of tanking is commonly referred to as "Blink Tanking".
Weaknesses
- Low HP is a primary problem with ninjas. One large damaging attack can easily take out a ninja. For this reason, it is crucial for a ninja tank to have the proper support.
- Haste is vital for lowered recasts.
- Carnage Elegy slows monsters by 50% or higher, which makes shadows last longer.
- Stun prevents TP moves or AOE -ga spells from stripping multiple shadows.
- Flash greatly lowers a monster's accuracy and is especially useful when a ninja has to recast Utsusemi: Ichi without any shadows for protection.
- Advancing March and Victory March are often used in endgame tanking scenarios to lower Utsusemi recasts even further.
- Ninjas do not gain access to Utsusemi: Ni until level 37. They also don't generate very much hate through damage unless they are using Shurikens. This makes it very difficult to solo tank before level 37. However, two ninjas in a party can work together very efficiently if they can trade hate.
