Harvest Festival 2007 Guide

From BGWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

The Harvest Festival of 2007 is practically the same compared to the Harvest Festival of 2006 in content and rewards. SE has announced that new costumes would be available, but those have yet to be found. It is theorized that later on, it might be possible to obtain the item Redeyes in some second part of the event.

During the Harvest Festival, several NPCs, particularly Regional Vendors will be in costume(of an undead monster). In addition, there will be costumed NPCs that roam around participating areas with "Trick" in their name: Trick Bones, Trick Ghast, Trick Ghost, Trick Phantom, Trick Shade, Trick Shadow, Trick Skeleton, Trick Specter, Trick Spirit, and Trick Wight. Trading a certain type of sweet foods to these costumed NPCs will result in them giving you a costume or even an event item.

These costumes are status effects(which can be canceled at will) that change your shape and prevent you from speaking to NPCs or opening doors. They are very important for other activities of the festival.

Almost all rewards can be stored, with an exception of Trick Staff II. (No multi-charge enchantment item can be stored).

The event itself it taking place in the following Areas:

Costumed NPCs

As explained above, there are several NPCs who are in costume and will put you in a costume if you trade them a treat. You can only receive one costume and item from a single type of Sweets per Vana'diel day. You will only receive the costume effect once, but you can continue trading the same treat until you get an item. A NPC will only give out the same costume.

Rewards

NPCs will randomly give you an item after trading them enough treats. To receive the HQ versions of the items, you need to equip the NQ version and trade treatsVerification Needed.

It is suggested you do not toss out items you may not want until you've finished trick or treating, as you can end up getting them again.

Bomb Decorations

There are sets of Bomb Decorations located in all the areas participating in the event. They are essential to obtaining the Pitchfork items.

Pitchfork

To obtain the Pitchfork, you must make a two-person party and meet under the Bomb Decorations with two specific costumes. Which costumes are based on area. Below is a list of the correct combinations and which NPCs can give them to you.

Pitchfork+1

Obtaining the Pitchfork+1 is somewhat similar. You must again make a 2-person party, but this time you both have have the Pitchfork and both be in a nation different where both of you first obtained it. This time around you will need to get the costume of the Beastmen that lives near your home nation(Bastok = Quadav, San d'Oria = Orc, and Windurst = Yagudo). If done correctly, instead of getting that Beastmen's form, you will instead get a Goblin costume. Meet under bomb decorations and you will receive your reward.

  • Bastok Markets: Orc(Trick Spirit), Quadav(Trick Phantom), and Yagudo(Trick Skeleton).
  • Northern San d'Oria: Orc(Trick Shadow), Quadav(Trick Bones), and Yagudo(Trick Specter).
  • Windurst Waters: Orc(Trick Bones), Quadav(Trick Shade), and Yagudo(Trick Ghost).

Wake of the Dark Lilies

Location:

There are two ghosts of the Dark Lilies in each city, in the areas listed above. To begin this portion of the event simply talk to one of the above NPC. He will assign you one of them to follow. This will be the less difficult of the two. If you are successful, you will be given the Witch Hat. If you talk to the exorcist again with the Witch Hat equipped, he will assign to the second and harder Dark Lily to follow. This time, if you are successful, you will be rewarded a Coven Hat. Further successful attempts will be rewared with a random number of Papillions.

You must first gain a costume by trading a treat. You then must follow a Dark Lily as it tells his or her story until it's over. If the Dark Lily sees you, your costume will be dispelled. You will need to get a new costume and continue where you left off. The Dark Lily will sometimes turn around or make sharp turns, however, there is usually an easy pattern to follow. The second Dark Lily will turn faster and be more sporadic.

As you hear the story, several messages will appear to tell your progress.

You've joined the procession.
You can't stop now. You've just started!
You've only just begun.
There's still a long way to go.
Hope you didn't make any other plans, because you're not even close to being finished.
Almost halfway...
It's still a little too early go back back.
Leave the procession now and someone might be peeved.
Just a little longer...
You're almost done!
Alright! It's time to collect your reward!

Coven Hat will allow you to purchase all three lanterns from any nation.

NPC and Costume List

Since all NPC's always give the same type of costume, it can be convenient to know which to use for obtaining the Pitchfork items. There are both special event roaming NPC's, and pre-existing NPC's that have been dressed up just for the event. Stationary NPC's can often be indoors and more difficult to use seeing as how costumes do not allow interaction with doors.
