History/Background

Byakko represents one of the Four symbols of the Chinese constellation. He is sometimes called "The White Tiger of the West", and represents the West and Autumn.

During the Han Dynasty, they believed a tiger was the king of all animals. Legend said when a tiger was to reach 500 years old, it would turn white. This is how the "White Tiger" became a mythological creature for that time period.
